Emtex Receives EcoVadis Gold Medal for Sustainability
In 2023, Emtex participated in a sustainability assessment by EcoVadis and was awarded the Gold medal. This assessment required the completion of a questionnaire that was customized to our company’s business and size and necessitated the submission of supporting documentation for the answers. The questions covered the following 4 themes: Environment, Ethics, Labor & Human Rights, and Sustainable Procurement. The experts at EcoVadis analyzed our answers and documents submitted as evidence. The EcoVadis methodology is based on international sustainability standards such as the Global Reporting Initiative, United Nations Global Compact, and ISO 26000.
We are proud and very pleased to have been awarded an EcoVadis Gold medal at the first assessment. With a score of 70/100, we are in the top 5% of all companies assessed by EcoVadis in our category (over 1,000 companies). It demonstrates our company’s commitment to sustainability. Although being a somewhat ‘compact’ company (counting 20 employees), sustainability is promoted at our workplace and is reflected in our company’s core values: team, quality, passion, and customer. We value team spirit, fairness, diversity, and respect for ideas and creativity and do everything to establish a healthy, inspiring work environment with room for growth and development.
We respect our employees and care about their well-being. Needless to say, ‘employees’ are the heart of any business. Given the importance of employees, it is crucial for companies to take care of their workforce… Building a culture where everyone feels valued and appreciated is key to creating a safe and healthy work environment where people enjoy going to work each day. Motivated employees are more productive, engaged, and committed to their work. It is also very important to provide opportunities for growth and development, so employees can continue to gain knowledge and expertise while also contributing towards the success of the company.
We aim to be a company with a strong ethical and environmental stance that shows respect for people, maintains honest and fair relationships with our customers or other stakeholders, and strives to minimize the environmental impact of our business activities. There are many things that can be done in and out of the workplace to help preserve the environment and the living beings on the planet. Recycling is one of the easiest ways as it requires no additional effort but does help reduce waste. Other important examples include the promotion of remote and hybrid work, the use of renewable energy, and the conversion of the company fleets to electric or hybrid vehicles.
We believe that environmental, ethical, and social performance are fundamental aspects of modern businesses. By adopting sustainable practices, companies show a sense of responsibility towards the well-being of the planet and future generations. We will use the EcoVadis medal on our company webpage and social media to showcase our performance to visitors, which may include (potential) customers and employees, and to raise awareness of this important issue to the outside world. This EcoVadis Gold medal is not our end goal, it encourages us to continue with our work and to find new ways to further improve our sustainability performance.
